Rachel is currently a freshman at the University of Virginia, planning to major in applied statistics with a biostatistics concentration.

Rachel is already making an impact in her new environment at university, as she shares with us -

"I am currently in my second semester at the University of Virginia, and I hope to major in applied statistics with a biostatistics concentration. In the future, I hope to attend medical school and enter the medical field as either a physician or a medical researcher. During my first year, I have been able to integrate myself into the UVA and Charlottesville community through my involvement in different extracurricular organizations, such as student council, Madison House Medical Services Volunteering, and Tri Sigma sorority. Through student council, I have been able to organize programs and events for my dorm association to help foster a community. My involvement in Madison House as a volunteer on the cardiac floor has allowed me to give back to UVA medical staff and the Charlottesville community as a whole. In Tri Sigma sorority, I have found a group of likeminded, welcoming, and passionate women who have helped to further make UVA feel like home. I have recently joined the philanthropy community and hope to help Tri Sigma strengthen their service to the Tri Sigma foundation and March for Dimes. In future semesters, I hope to find leadership positions in Madison House and Tri Sigma, in addition to working in a research lab."

We are so pleased to congratulate her on a successful first semester at University of Virginia. Keep being a beam of positivity and spreading the wave of kindness Rachel!

OUR DECISION BOARD COMITTEE

We are currently seeking to expand our Decision Board Committee. Our Decision Board Committee is a group of passionate and devoted Cape Ann community members who are actively involved, whether through participation in local organizations or involvement with the local school program. Duties for our members include, but are not limited to; actively participating in the decision process of selecting the annual recipient for the Wave Foundation Scholarship, helping to locate means of funding for events and awards, and generally contributing to the pursuit of our mission by promoting positivity, building community, and propagating overall growth as an organization.

Ideally, Decision Board Committee members are residents of the Rockport/Cape Ann area and actively involved in the community. It is also preferred that Decision Board Committee members are active participants in the local school system(s). It is integral that potential and current members share the mission and goals of the organization and are personally committed to affecting positive change within their community.

If you are passionate about making a positive difference and personally share the values of the Wave Foundation, please apply to join us. We are thrilled to be expanding as a foundation and excited to grow our family with new members who are enthusiastic and passionate about spreading the wave of kindness!
